This is Kobe Drew asking to hold my hand as we watch TV.
👦🏾 My grandson.
💙My heart.
⁉️ My why.
He’s 8 years old, full of curiosity, joy, and so much potential. And every time I hold his hand, I’m reminded why I stay grounded in the work of inclusive leadership.
Because the world I want for Kobe is one where he can walk into any room and be seen—fully and unapologetically. Where his authenticity is met with acceptance, not judgment. Where resilience and perseverance aren’t just survival tactics, but celebrated strengths.
I want him to know that he belongs. That he matters. That the world is better when he shows up as exactly who he is.
And that starts with us.
Inclusive leadership isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a responsibility. It’s a choice to lead with empathy, to challenge bias, and to create cultures where our future leaders—like Kobe—can thrive.
